SpaceX just launched its 50th mission of the year. The milestone moment occurred on Sunday morning (April 26), when a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 25 of SpaceX's Starlink broadband satellites lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The rocket rose off the pad at 10:37 a.m. EDT (1437 GMT; 7:37 a.m. local California time). About eight minutes later, the Falcon 9's first stage came down to Earth for a Pacific Ocean touchdown atop the SpaceX droneship "Of Course I Still Love You." The newcomers join the largest constellation ever assembled, which currently consists of nearly 10,300 active satellites . And it's growing all the time, as Sunday's launch shows: Forty-two of SpaceX's 50 launches this year have been Starlink missions.
