Vinícius Júnior netted the third, with all of the goals coming in a first half during which Brazil looked markedly improved from their insipid opening draw against Morocco . The result means Haiti, who lost to Scotland 1-0 in their first game , can no longer reach the knockout phase. Brazil ran riot in the first half, helped by some generous defending from the Caribbean side, whose high line gave Cunha, Raphinha and Vinícius plenty of opportunities to run in behind. Raphinha had a 12th-minute strike disallowed for offside. The Barcelona forward latched on to Bruno Guimarães’s through-ball before finishing well, only for the assistant’s flag to correctly signal he had moved a fraction early. Ten minutes later Raphinha was sent clear again, but the former Leeds player lifted his finish wide of the target, with the offside flag once more raised. A minute later Brazil went ahead through Cunha. Vinícius cut in from the left and his curling effort was parried by Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide to leave the Manchester United forward with a simple finish.
