US President Donald Trump gestures as he addresses the media during a closing press conference at the G7 summit, in Evian, eastern France, on June 17, 2026. Mandel Ngan | Afp | Getty Images President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he liked the idea of blaming Vice President JD Vance if a deal to end the war with Iran does not work out. Trump, addressing reporters at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, also said he might stay in Europe to sign a memorandum of understanding with Iran, but that he also might not stay. The president seemed to suggest that the memorandum might not result in a deal with Iran to put a permanent end to the conflict that would look good for him. "This is a memorandum of understanding," Trump said. "It's very important, but it might not be the kind of document that I should be signing," Trump said.
