Washington — The Senate on Tuesday narrowly rejected a war powers resolution on Iran as President Trump touts a framework agreement with Tehran to end the monthslong conflict. Senators rejected a motion to discharge the resolution out of committee in a 47 to 48 vote. Four Republicans — Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rand Paul of Kentucky — joined nearly all Democrats in favor. Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was the sole Democrat to oppose. The vote comes as lawmakers are eager for more information about the terms of a U.S.-Iran deal that remains secret. In 2015, Congress passed the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which requires that any deal relating to Iran's nuclear program be submitted to Congress for review before any sanctions can be lifted. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, a South Dakota Republican, told reporters earlier Tuesday that he had requested the text of the agreement along with a briefing from the administration.
