Google is rolling out a new AI-powered ‘contextual suggestions’ feature to Android users that recommends actions based on your daily habits, Android Authority reports. The feature is designed to predict your next action based on your location and habits — such as allowing music streaming apps to suggest your usual playlist when you arrive at the gym for your regular workout. Contextual suggestions were previously available in the Play Services beta, but now Google seems to have expanded it to the stable channel. While Google hasn’t announced that the feature has officially launched, some reporters at Android Authority and 9to5Google are seeing that it’s available on Pixel 10 series devices running Android 16, and appears to be enabled by default. We don’t know what the notifications themselves will look like. Screenshots of the settings interface shared by the publications show that users can manage what data is accessed by the feature, such as disabling its ability to use your device location. The privacy section of the contextual suggestions settings says that the feature works “in an encrypted space on your device,” and that your data isn’t shared with Google, apps, or third-party services. “In this space, AI learns from the data and makes predictions about what might be helpful to you,” Google says in the feature description. …
