Watch live: Trump hosts Brazil's President Lula at White House

President Trump on Thursday morning will welcome Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for a working visit at the White House. An administration official told The Hill earlier this week that the discussions will focus on economic and security matters between the two nations. The two leaders have been on opposite sides of the political spectrum and have often butted heads . Last July, Trump slapped a 50 percent tariff on Brazil in part over the prosecution of the country’s former right-wing president, Jair Bolsonaro, a prominent Trump ally who lost to Lula in the 2022 election.
